It's amazing what one can accomplish while waiting. I now carry baby-hat projects in my purse so I'm prepared for those times when
1) there's only one person working at the post office, and I'm the 30th person in line;
2) I see the the subway leave just as I enter the station, and have to wait for the next one; and/or
3) a friend gets waylaid on the way to meet me for dinner.
In fact, I created this hat while waiting last week:
I call it Peppermint Swirl because it makes me think of soft-serve peppermint ice cream. Not that I've ever had soft-serve peppermint ice cream, mind you. I'm not even sure if it exists. But that's the first thing that popped in my head when I finished the hat. So that's what I'm calling it. I made it out of leftover Karabella Aurora 8.
Here's a peek at the top to reveal more swirly action.....
Darling! I love white stripes for babies. I carry knitting everywhere, too. My teenaged girls have finally stopped being embarassed and started asking for socks and scarves.

What a beautiful hat, I am also curious as to how you finished the top. The colors are great together too. :)

Peppermint swirl soft serve most definitely exists! (I'm a big sucker for soft serve.) That is a very sweet hat. How did you make the little knob at the top?

oh, that's a very adorable pepperminty hat. What kind of yarn did you use? It looks very soft.

wow! I'd love the pattern for this, if you'd like to share it. I like how the top is, rather than the drawstring through and pull I have been using, being more new to knitting than crochet.

The hat is a thing of beauty! I love the pattern that the decreases make.
I also carry projects for waiting. I've finished an old fashioned ascot-type scarf for my grandmother (waiting for son at drivers ed), two pair of socks (doctors appointments, computer camp), and just started my first pair of gloves (football). I look at these simple projects and see a diary of me at this point in life. Who knew knitting could mean so much! Thanks for your blog, I enjoy reading your posts.
